About Us

The Child Development Program at Weill Cornell Medicine is dedicated to providing integrated, collaborative care for a diverse population of children with a wide range of strengths and difficulties.

We provide evaluation, treatment and referral for conditions including:

  • Delays in motor and language development
  • Autism spectrum disorder
  • Cerebral palsy
  • School-related problems including Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
  • In addition, we develop plans to address behavioral difficulties including temper tantrums, sleep problems and feeding disorders.

We are affiliated with the Komansky Children's Hospital at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center, which is recognized as one of the top children's hospitals in New York.

Services & Programs

We provide diagnostic evaluations and ongoing care for infants and children with developmental delays, disorders and behavioral difficulties. We also provide recommendations for therapy, schooling, educational accommodations and medication management.

Mary Ward, Ph.D.

Dr. Mary Ward, our behavioral psychologist, offers assistance and guidance regarding:

  • Sleeping
  • Feeding
  • Toileting
  • Discipline
  • Daily schedules
  • Parent-child communication
  • Other behavioral issues

Dr. Ward collaborates with parents to define goals, teaches agreed-upon strategies, and coaches parents to use those strategies independently. Her approach is non-judgmental, relationship-focused and presumes parent competence.

We diagnose and treat the following conditions:

  • Autism spectrum disorder
  • Motor coordination disorders and dyspraxia
  • Language disorders
  • Behavioral disorders – ADHD and ODD
  • Sensory processing disorders
